Averi stood barefoot on the beach, arms outstretched. She breathed in the salty air of route 222. With the wind in her hair and an impatiently downed breakfast in her stomach, she was ready. Ready to start her journey as a pokemon trainer. Today was the day she turned 10, the age one needed to be to set out alone. Near her feet, a Chatot was pecking around in the sand. This Chatot had befriended Averi little less than half a year ago. At first she had been apprehensive, but soon she warmed up to him after realizing how much she enjoyed his company.
The two met on the beach every day, and Averi would tell Chatot of her dreams and goals she would try to achieve once she became a trainer. Chatot had long since decided that he would be going with her on her journey.
Chatot squawked as water crashed against the rocks, splattering him. "Ahh!" shouted Averi, "A rogue wave! Run!" She let out a laugh and started running in circles. Chatot flapped his wings irritatedly. They heard a chortle come from behind them. Her father was standing in front of their ocean-side house with a smile on his face. Averi's father was a scientist who studied the migratory patterns of ocean dwelling pokemon. Because of his job, Averi had lived by the ocean her whole life.
"Come on in, Averi. There's someone who wants to speak with you." Averi cocked her head to the side. "Who is it?" she asked. Her father held the door open. "why don't you come find out?" Chatot hopped up and perched on her shoulder as she walked inside. Her dad's laptop was sitting on his desk hooked up to all kinds of wires, and had a webcam situated on the top. A video chat was open on the screen. Her dad led her over to the desk. In the video window, she could see a stern-looking man with a mustache and white hair. "Averi, this is professor Rowan." Her dad said. "He works as a pokemon scientist at his lab in Sandgem town. "Nice to meet you." said averi, still wondering what this had to do with her. "Pleased to meet you too." His voice was kind, not nearly as stern as his looks. "Now, as you may or may not know, your father and I often exchange scientific findings with each other, and recently he's been telling me of your aspirations to become a pokemon trainer." Averi smiled wide. "Yeah! Today's the day I can finally start out! but, I need to travel all the way to Sandgem to get my starter..." Rowan looked up at her father, who grinned. "Traveling to Sandgem would indeed be an undertaking," Rowan continued, "so your father and I have decided to let you choose a starter, and it will be transported to the nearby pokemon center in Sunyshore city."
Averi's face brightened. "Really?!" She squealed. Rowan smiled (or at least that's what it seemed like. It was hard to tell with that mustache of his.) "I currently have three starters in my possesion. You may choose one. The screen suddenly changed to a picture of a Chimchar, a Turtwig, and a Piplup. "Hmm... oh, I studied this!" She put her hand on her chin. "Well, with Chimchar, I won't have the advantage against water or rock types, which there are a lot of in Sinnoh. And Piplup can learn some of the same moves that Chatot here already knows. Chatot chirped, happy to be recognized. "So, I choose Turtwig!" She tapped the screen for emphasis.
Rowan chuckled. "You've clearly done your research. The Turtwig will be transported to the Sunyshore pokemon center. Why don't you go pick it up?" Averi nodded excitedly and ran to grab her socks and shoes. "Bye, dad!" Before he could respond, she was running out the door, Chatot flapping erratically behind her.

Sheesh, look at that huge chunk of text! I guess that's what introductions are like.
So, as requirements stated, little Averi has finally received her starter! Er, well, will. But the deal is sealed! See you in Sunyshore...
